The Municipality of Majur participated in the study trip

The Municipality of Majur, as part of the Green-Tex project, organized a study trip on September 10, 2024. with the aim of spreading knowledge and connecting with other craft workshops and key stakeholders from the #textile and #craft industry sector. The goal of this initiative was to encourage the exchange of experiences, improve #sustainableproduction and strengthen cooperation between actors in this sector, creating the foundations for long-term cooperation and development of the local community. This is also an excellent example of the ♻️#circulareconomy, because through initiatives like this one tries to make maximum use of existing resources, such as 🐑#wool, and #reducewaste through ♻️#recycling and #reuse. The focus on preserving local resources and creating products with a longer lifespan contributes to sustainability, while preserving tradition and reducing the negative impact on the environment.
One of the locations visited was the wool #weavingworkshop ZR ZR Minaka in Prijedor, the only one of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The workshop covers the entire wool processing process, from raw material to finished products, and thus offers valuable insight into the preservation of this traditional craft. The “Minake” facility is equipped with specialized machines for each phase of wool processing. Poor wool, obtained from local herders, goes through a washing and drying process to remove impurities and prepare it for further processing.
After washing, the wool is combed and spun into yarn. For this, special machines are used that separate and straighten the fibers, creating a smooth yarn ready for dyeing or further weaving. The store “Minaka” also has a department for dyeing wool, where natural and industrial dyes are used to obtain different shades, most often white and gray colors.
One of the key parts of the production process takes place on the spinning machine, which transforms the wool into thread, which is later used to make various products such as wool carpets, sweaters, hats and other handicrafts. The wool of pramenka, which is known for its resistance and softness, is especially valued and used in the production of high-quality articles.
The store “Minaka” is also planning to expand its production, including a new line of products such as woolen quilts, which will further enrich the offer of traditional woolen products on the domestic market. This workshop becomes an example of how tradition can be combined with modern challenges, providing an opportunity for economically sustainable development and preservation of cultural heritage.

Trgovina “Minaka” također planira proširenje proizvodnje, uključujući i novu liniju proizvoda poput vunenih popluna, čime će dodatno obogatiti ponudu tradicionalnih vunenih proizvoda na domaćem tržištu.
